The children, Mr. Right, and I had a fun Halloween.  We are currently a one car household.  Wednesday, Halloween, Mr. Right had an appointment that he could not miss at 9:00 am and we were not sure how long it would take.  Instead of carpooling him to his appointment and picking him up later, so I would have the car to take the children to preschool, we decided to keep the children home.  It was a fun day.

The kids and I cuddled for a long time in the morning before finally getting out of bed to have a late breakfast.  We played around the house and did some chores.  I had a little bit of work to do, which I did get done.

The children and I made a scarecrow to sit on our front porch.  This was really my first attempt at a scarecrow.  I think next year I will have to come up with a way to make him look better than this year’s.  Still, it was a fun project for the three of us to do.  The children named him Mr. Jacky Lantern.

In the afternoon, we made homemade cookies and cut them out like pumpkins and the letter P, which is their letter of the week.  The children enjoyed icing the cookies.  I think they enjoyed eating the icing the most.

Then, they helped Mr. Right carve the pumpkins.  He created a hand drawn template of how he was going to carve the pumpkins and got to work.  When GigglyGirl saw what he had done, she created her own hand drawn template for the second, much smaller pumpkin.  He used her template to carve the second one.  The knives were taking too long to cut through the pumpkins, so Mr. Right got out his drill.  I think he really had fun drilling through the pumpkin.

My sister, her husband, and children came over to go trick or treating with us.  We had Jack-o-Lantern hamburgers for dinner.  Then the children donned their costumes and went trick or treating.  There were dressed as a pumpkin (my 4 month old nephew), Snow White (my 3 year old niece), and a cowboy (BusyBoy) and a cowgirl (GigglyGirl).

I stayed home to give out the candy to the kids who came by our house.  As I was waiting for them, I read a book on my PalmPhone.  The Blue Brothers stopped by (aka 2 14 year old neighborhood boys) and said I looked bored.  I told them I was reading a book and could also check my email and surf the web with my phone.  They were excited about that and thought it was very cool.

I think GigglyGirl may have been asleep before my sister and her family pulled all the way out of the driveway.  Ok, maybe not the driveway, but certainly before they drove the 8 miles home.  BusyBoy was awake a bit longer but fell asleep pretty quickly as well.
