Last week, I posted about how the vicious, viral, vile flu of 2008 struck our family. On Friday, we learned that one of the fathers of a child in GigglyGirl and BusyBoy’s class has been hospitalized due to the flu. The father, whose name is Russell, had the flu and it developed into pneumonia. He is currently in a drug induced coma to help his body fight his infections. It is taking longer than expected for him to heal and they are going to have to keep him in the coma for longer than the anticipated 5 days.
My bloggy friends, please keep Russell, his wife, and children in your prayers.
This is the third man with young children I personally know or personally know their family members who has developed severe problems as a result of the flu this season. As my own public service announcement, if you are feeling sick with cold like symptoms and a fever, make sure you rest and let your body heal. Don’t wait to go to the doctor if you think you might need medicine to fight what is happening in your body. It is better to be safe than sorry. The flu this season (at least around Georgia) is truly vicious, viral, and vile.
